Data Pulse ("the App") is developed and operated by The Shop Ops ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you install and use Data Pulse on your Shopify store.
By installing Data Pulse, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Access and Collect
Data Pulse requires read-only access to certain Shopify data to perform validation checks. Here's how we handle your data:
Shopify Data We Access (Read-Only)
We access the following data through Shopify's API to run validation checks. This data is read in real-time and is not stored in our databases:
- Product information: Title, vendor, product type, status, tags, price, compare at price, inventory, SKU, and custom metafields
- Customer information: Email, first name, last name, phone, display name, state, tags, number of orders, and custom metafields
Data We Store
We only store the following data in our databases:
- Validation rules: The rule sets and conditions you create within the app
- Validation results: Pass/fail status for each validated entity, including Shopify resource IDs and failure reasons (but not the underlying product or customer data)
- App settings: Your shop domain, billing status, and app preferences
- Session data: OAuth tokens required for Shopify API access
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information solely to provide the Data Pulse service:
- Read your product and customer data from Shopify to evaluate against your validation rules
- Store validation results so you can view compliance reports
- Cache validation outcomes to improve app performance
- Process subscription billing through Shopify's billing API
- Authenticate your access to the app using Shopify's session tokens
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:
- Data is stored in encrypted PostgreSQL databases hosted on Vercel's secure infrastructure
- All data transmission is encrypted using TLS 1.3
- We use Shopify's session token authentication—we never see or store your Shopify password
- The app runs entirely within Shopify's embedded app framework
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. We may share data only in these circumstances:
- Infrastructure providers: Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider process your data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect our legal rights
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you would be notified)
6. Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary:
- While installed: Your validation rules and results are retained for as long as the app is installed
- After uninstallation: All your data (rules, results, settings) is automatically deleted within 48 hours
- Billing records: Subscription records are retained as required by law and Shopify's policies
7. GDPR and Privacy Compliance
Data Pulse is designed with privacy in mind and fully supports Shopify's mandatory privacy requirements:
- Customer data requests: When a customer requests their data, we respond with any stored information linked to them
- Customer data deletion: When a customer requests deletion, we remove all validation results associated with their record
- Shop data deletion: When you uninstall the app or request deletion, we erase all your shop's data
Since we don't store copies of your actual product or customer data—only validation results with resource IDs—the privacy impact is minimal.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access and receive a copy of data we store about your shop
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (or simply uninstall the app)
- Object to or restrict data processing
- Export your validation rules via the app's built-in export feature

9. Children's Privacy
Data Pulse is a B2B tool designed for Shopify merchants. It is not intended for use by individuals under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may also notify you through the app or via email. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
